Meet Getamesay Teferi
Getamesay Teferi lives in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. He is the national board chairman and mission coordinator for the northern part of Ethiopia in the Church of the Nazarene. Getamesay is from the Abysinia people group and speaks his native language, Amharic, as well as English. He was an electrician by trade before God called him into full-time ministry. Getamesay has a great love for singing and leading worship, but nothing gives him greater joy than sharing the Gospel and seeing someone come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Getamesay feels called to serve as a Field Worker with Evangelism Explosion primarily because God has called him to be a fisher of men. Since he has taken the EE training, his personal soul-winning has doubled. By allowing him to serve as an Operation Harvest Field Worker, God has given him the desire of his heart . . . to equip others to be soul-winners.
Getamesay’s vision is to see EE implemented in local churches through out Ethiopia. The great ethnic diversity and language barrier is presently the greatest challenge facing Getamesay. Translation of training material into at least a few of the major languages is a great priority. Additionally, the majority of the population cannot read or write, so producing illiterate training material is also crucial. Many areas of Ethiopia are in need of churches, so Getamesay is working to develop partnerships with different denominations that will help facilitate the needed church plantings.
Your sponsorship of Getamesay will enable him to fulfill his vision of working to reach communities that are dominated by Orthodox and Muslim beliefs. It will provide a living allowance to him and his family and will also provide the necessary travel and ministry related needs.
Because of your sponsorship, this field worker will be able to touch his community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your passion and prayers.
